Gen II launches Sensr Portal to redefine investor access in private markets

Gen II upgrades its Sensr Portal with AI, transforming investor access to private market data, reporting and insights through natural language queries.

Gen II Fund Services has unveiled a next-generation version of its Sensr Portal, introducing what it describes as the private markets’ first artificial intelligence (AI)-powered investor portal designed to deliver real-time, conversational access to fund data and documentation.

Built on Gen II’s proprietary AI intelligence layer and powered by large language model technology, the upgraded Sensr Portal is designed specifically for private capital environments.

The platform aims to shift the investor experience from static document retrieval to dynamic, insight-led engagement, enabling both general partners (GPs) and limited partners (LPs) to interrogate fund information more quickly, accurately and intuitively.

“Our AI-powered Sensr Portal represents a significant milestone in our digital innovation and investor experience roadmap. Data drives private markets, and we’re equipping our clients and their investors to move from passive document retrieval to active, intelligent data engagement.”

Robert Caporale, President, Strategic & Digital Solutions, Gen II

At the core of the platform is AI-driven natural language interaction. Investors can search across extensive libraries of fund documentation – including capital call notices, distribution notices and quarterly and annual reports – by asking questions in plain language. The system returns summarised responses, key figures and relevant document excerpts within seconds.

Beyond document search, the Sensr Portal enables real-time data querying across fund performance, capital balances and portfolio metrics. Complex analytical questions can be answered instantly through aggregated data visualisations and explanatory insights, reducing the volume of routine investor enquiries handled by GP teams.

The AI layer also supports personalised insight generation, flagging trends, anomalies and material updates that are relevant to an individual investor’s portfolio and exposure. This enables a more tailored and proactive flow of information, rather than one-size-fits-all reporting.

Unlike many investor portals that rely on disconnected data sources, Sensr Portal is integrated directly with Gen II’s general ledger. This connection allows the platform to deliver validated, consistent responses grounded in live financial data, offering users a more complete and reliable view of fund activity.

Security and data governance have been central to the platform’s development. The AI functionality operates within a ring-fenced environment, ensuring that each investor can access only their own data and documents. Gen II says this approach eliminates concerns around data leakage or exposure to external AI models or the wider internet.

Sensr Portal forms part of Sensr Solutions, Gen II’s proprietary technology suite designed to support fund administration and investor engagement across the full fund lifecycle. The suite also includes tools for digital onboarding, analytics and no-code data integration, providing a unified technology layer for fund managers and their investors.

Founded in 2009, Gen II Fund Services has grown into one of the largest independent, tech-enabled fund administrators globally, overseeing more than $1 trillion in private fund capital.

The firm supports a wide range of private capital managers across multiple jurisdictions, combining bespoke service delivery with proprietary technology to streamline operations, reporting and investor communications.
